Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has set up a steering committee dedicated to initiating reforms and implementing automation within the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR). The committee, chaired by PM Shehbaz himself, comprises 10 members, with a formal notification already issued to this effect.

Among the committee members are Federal Ministers of Finance, Industry, Commerce and Production, and Law, ensuring a high-profile representation. The Finance Division will extend secretarial support to the steering committee, tasked with overseeing the execution of the FBR reform agenda.

Previously, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had instructed concerned authorities to ensure the execution of all projects aimed at stabilizing the national economy. These directives came during a significant high-level meeting held in Islamabad to review the country’s five-year economic roadmap for development.

The meeting featured the presentation of an economic roadmap for the next five years, emphasizing goals such as curbing inflation, reducing poverty, and fostering employment opportunities.

PM Shehbaz stressed the importance of consulting all stakeholders across various sectors of the economy to ensure successful implementation of the plan. He highlighted the need for prioritized action to bolster agriculture, livestock, technology, foreign investment, and both small and large-scale industries.

Expressing confidence in the roadmap, Shehbaz Sharif envisioned the stabilization of the country’s economy and its trajectory towards development over the next five years.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister emphasized the significance of modernization and innovation, particularly in agriculture, foreseeing an increase in revenues and per-acre yield. Additionally, he underscored the need to prioritize the privatization of loss-making State-Owned Enterprises to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
