Sindh Chief Minister-elect Murad Ali Shah was sworn in on Tuesday, a day after securing a majority of votes in the election for the provincial chief executive. Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori administered the oath at the Governor’s House, with top officials and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders, including party chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, in attendance. Outgoing Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar also graced the occasion.

Making history with his third consecutive term as the provincial chief executive, CM Shah received 112 votes in the election, while the MQM-P candidate, Ali Khursheedi, secured 36 votes. The assembly session, chaired by Speaker Awais Qadir Shah, witnessed the historic moment through the division of the house.

In his inaugural address, CM Shah expressed his commitment to accelerating development work in the province, making the rule of law a top priority. He emphasized the importance of punctuality among provincial bureaucracy and announced plans to double the salaries of government employees in the next five years.

Shah also pledged to address issues such as dacoity in the riverine belt (katcha area) through law enforcement operations and eliminate street crimes in Karachi. He recalled the encouragement he received from late Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto to enter politics and expressed gratitude to the PPP leadership for the opportunity to serve the province once again.

CM Shah assured the house of his commitment to impartial governance, welcoming criticism from opposition lawmakers for continuous improvement in his administration.
