Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the newly appointed chief minister of Punjab and the first woman to hold the position, delivered a comprehensive speech outlining promises for the youth. Among the enticing projects, she pledged initiatives such as Free Wi-Fi, positioning Punjab as an ‘economic hub.’ Maryam expressed dedication to enhancing the lives of young people in the province, presenting a range of commitments.

The chief minister emphasized supporting deserving students financially based on merit, reviving the Punjab Education Endowment Fund, and sponsoring gifted students to attend top educational institutions. Maryam also pledged to revive her father’s youth loan program, offering interest-free loans, skills training, and providing laptops and tablets.

Highlighting the need to make government internship programs paid and more widely available, Maryam promised a Rs25,000 stipend for those undertaking internships in the government sector. Additionally, she committed to providing comprehensive support for IT startups, including resources, incubators, and guidance. Maryam suggested initiatives like providing electric motorbikes to students and enhancing school transport systems.

Addressing education concerns, the new chief minister pledged to work on current school curriculums, ensure access to education for all children regardless of financial constraints, and establish education centers for differently-abled children in each district through public-private partnerships. She envisioned a digital Punjab, inviting tech giants to open offices, providing free WiFi, and revitalizing e-libraries in the region.

Focusing on transforming Punjab into an ‘Economic Hub,’ Maryam outlined her government’s commitment to pro-business policies, incentivizing deals, and reducing bureaucratic obstacles. She proposed converting provincial government businesses into public-private partnerships to stimulate economic growth.

Healthcare improvements were also a priority, with plans for state-of-the-art hospitals in every district, free medicines in government hospitals, and the introduction of the first air ambulance and a motorized ambulance service.

Maryam highlighted her commitment to women’s safety, announcing a dedicated helpline, advocating for safe working women hostels, and promising daycare centers at workplaces. Additionally, she pledged a package for the transgender community and initiatives to empower marginalized groups.
