Awais Muneer has advanced to the final of the ongoing Asian Snooker Championship in Doha, Qatar, after a stellar performance in the semi-final.

In the semi-final match, Awais secured a convincing victory over Iran’s Amir Sarkosh with a score of 4-1.

Displaying remarkable control and skill, the Pakistani cueist dominated the match, with a scoreline of 57-36 in the first frame. However, Amir Sarkosh mounted a strong comeback in the second frame, shutting out Awais with a score of 80-0.

Undeterred, Awais quickly regained his form and momentum, winning the following three frames with scores of 75-17, 67-47, and 69-32, respectively. This secured his place in the championship final.

Awais Muneer’s impressive run marks the first time since 2015 that a Pakistani player has reached the final of the Asian Snooker Championship. In 2015, Pakistan’s Hamza Akbar claimed the title.

Earlier in the tournament, on February 21, Awais defeated India’s former world champion Pankaj Advani to advance to the quarter-finals. Another Pakistani cueist, Naseem Akhtar, also made it to the top 8.

In a thrilling match against Advani, Awais emerged victorious with a score of 4-2. The match was closely contested, with both players tied at two frames each. Awais turned the tables with a break of 112 in the fifth frame, ultimately securing the win in the sixth frame.

Meanwhile, Naseem Akhtar faced a tough challenge against Qatar’s Ali Aloubaidli. The match went down to the wire, with Naseem showcasing impressive skills. Despite a close fight, Naseem lost 3-4, with Ali Aloubaidli sealing the victory with a decisive break of 94 in the final frame.
