In a statement issued by the ISPR, Army Chief General Asim Munir extended his congratulations to the nation on the successful conduct of the general elections in the country. He also commended the government, the Election Commission, and the winning candidates for their efforts.

Highlighting the significance of an independent and free exercise of the right to vote, General Asim Munir emphasized the nation’s commitment to democracy and trust in the constitution of Pakistan.

Acknowledging the role of various stakeholders including the media, civil society, executive, and judiciary, General Munir credited their constructive contributions for the successful holding of the elections.

He stressed the need for the nation to move away from the politics of anarchy and polarization, asserting that such tendencies are not conducive to a progressive nation of 250 million people. General Munir emphasized that elections are not merely about winning or losing, but rather a means to determine the people’s mandate.

Encouraging political leadership and workers to prioritize the collective interest over personal gains, General Asim Munir urged for unity and collaboration in governing and serving the people, highlighting the importance of making democracy functional and purposeful.

He called upon all political parties to respond with political maturity and unity, considering the country’s current standing and its place among the nations of the world.

Expressing optimism, General Munir expressed hope that the elections would pave the way for political and economic stability in the country, ultimately contributing to peace and prosperity in Pakistan.
