How to check married status online: a step-by-step guide

The Marriage Registration Certificate (MRC) holds significant importance as a legal proof of marriage, affirming the marital status of an individual. At the Nikkah ceremony, a form is completed, detailing information about the groom, bride, and witnesses. However, this document, penned in Urdu, lacks acceptance in foreign nations where a computerized certificate issued by Nadra is mandated.

In Pakistan, individuals who are married have the option to apply for a Marriage Certificate from NADRA. The implementation of NADRA’s Civil Registration System for Birth, Death, Marriage, and Divorce events aims to streamline e-Governance services. This involves the automation of processes at the local government level for efficient registration and certificate issuance.

Checking marital status in Pakistan necessitates a visit to Nadra Registration centers or Union Council offices. Regrettably, Nadra does not currently offer an online platform for verifying marriage certificates.

To procure a Nadra marriage certificate, one must visit Union Councils or Cantonment Board Offices with essential documents in hand. These include the Urdu Nikah Nama, CNICs of the bride, groom, and their fathers, CNIC of Nikah Khawan, and passport copies for non-residents.

Unluckily, there isn’t an online mechanism for checking divorce status in Pakistan. Individuals must physically visit Nadra offices or Union Councils to acquire divorce records.

It’s important to note that procedures may be subject to change, and individuals are advised to verify the current requirements with the relevant offices.
