The popular messaging app WhatsApp, plans to discontinue offering “unlimited storage” for chat backups in the future.
Along with Google, the meta-owned app will remove the unlimited quota option for WhatsApp backups and will notify users in advance.
WhatsApp is making a change for Android users regarding their data backups. Currently, there’s unlimited storage for backups, but soon, this will no longer be the case. This change will be first introduced to beta testers and then to everyone else next year.
What does this mean for users? Well, currently, you can back up as much data as you want, but with the upcoming change, you’ll be limited to the storage space available within the 15GB limit of your Google account or any additional storage subscription you may have.
