Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), held a meeting with Hamas leader Khaled Mashal and others in Qatar. During these meetings, they discussed the current situation in Palestine, particularly the conflict in Gaza where Israel had waged war against the residents. The meeting emphasized the need for Muslim leaders to play a role in achieving a ceasefire in Gaza.
Hamas leaders expressed their gratitude to Maulana Fazlur Rehman for showing solidarity with the people of Gaza.
Additionally, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken made a surprise visit to the Israeli-occupied West Bank to meet with Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas.
During their meeting, President Abbas mentioned that the Palestinian Authority could only return to power in the Gaza Strip if a comprehensive political solution is found to address the Israeli bombardment of Gaza. Abbas stated that this solution should encompass all of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.
