The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued an update regarding the health of all-rounder Shadab Khan ahead of Pakistan’s scheduled match with Bangladesh at Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens.

Shadab Khan sustained a concussion during Pakistan’s match against South Africa, which led to the need for a concussion substitute, with Usama Mir being brought into Pakistan’s playing eleven.

In a press release, the PCB stated that following a comprehensive assessment, the medical panel had no alternative but to exclude Shadab Khan from the forthcoming match against Bangladesh. The paramount consideration is Shadab’s health and well-being, and as such, every necessary precaution is being taken. Continuous evaluation and monitoring of his condition will persist to ensure his recovery and overall health.

Shadab Khan’s recent concussion is the third one he has suffered since September of the previous year. The first incident occurred when he collided with a teammate during a Vitality T20 Blast match in May of the current year. The second concussion happened during the Asia Cup final last year in Dubai, when his head collided with Asif Ali’s elbow while fielding.

Today, the Pakistan cricket team is set to compete against Bangladesh in Match 31 of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, held at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This match is of critical importance, as it is a must-win game for Pakistan in order to keep their hopes of reaching the World Cup semi-finals alive.
