Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, has begun rolling out its redesigned Android user interface to a select group of beta testers.

According to recent reports from WABetaInfo, this work-in-progress feature is accessible within the newly launched WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.21.12, available on Google Play.

Previous reports indicated that the enhanced user interface for the popular messaging application, WhatsApp, has been in development for several months.

The updated UI draws inspiration from Material Design 3 and brings with it new icons and color schemes. It also introduces a fresh appearance for chat bubbles and incorporates a floating action button.

The updated WhatsApp interface for Android now prominently displays the profile icon in the top-right corner, alongside other options such as the Camera and Search bar.

Moreover, the messaging application has introduced a new shade of green to enhance both its dark and light themes. According to WABetaInfo, their remarks indicated that a limited group of testers using the latest WhatsApp Business beta had the opportunity to experience these fresh UI changes.

The website also anticipates that this feature will gradually expand its availability to more users in the coming weeks. Consequently, it might take some time before the new WhatsApp interface becomes accessible on your Android device.

In other developments, the messaging app is currently testing a dedicated reply bar designed specifically for images and videos on the Android platform. Additionally, there have been reports hinting at the creation of an iPad-compatible version for instant messaging.

Last month, Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, collaborated with Microsoft to integrate Bing Search into Meta’s AI chatbot, further enhancing the app’s capabilities.
