Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) data from the week ending October 5 showed that weekly inflation increased by 0.11 percent, according to a report released on Friday by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Out of 51 items, 19 (37.26%) of them had price increases over the week, compared to 16 (31.37%) that saw price decreases and 16 (31.37%) that saw constant prices.

Tomatoes (12.45%), onions (11.96%), garlic (2.59%), potatoes (1.81%), cooked daal (1.27%), eggs (0.84%), beef (0.53%), and bread (0.52%) are among the food items that have seen significant price increases. LPG (3.11%), firewood (0.76%), and long cloth (0.51%) are non-food goods.

Diesel (3.33%), Chicken (2.78%), Petrol (2.40%), Pulse Masoor (1.80%), Pulse Gramme (1.73%), Gur (1.14%), Pulse Moong (0.58%), and Pulse Mash costs, on the other side, have significantly decreased.

Electricity costs for the first quarter rose by 118.16 percent, Gas costs rose by 108.38 percent, Cigarettes rose by 94.69 percent, Rice Basmati broken rose by 87.60 percent, Chilli Powder rose by 84.84%, Sugar rose by 79.5 percent, Rice Irri-6/9 rose by 78.69 percent, Wheat flour rose by 77.91 percent, Gur rose by 67.68 percent, Tea Lipton rose by 60.72 percent, Gents Sponge Chappal (58.05%), Salt Powdered (56.48%), Garlic (54.78%), Gents Sandal (53.37%), Petrol (43.70%) and Potatoes (42.99%), while decrease is observed in the prices of Tomatoes (54.05%), Onions (18.21%), Pulse Gram (2.67%) and Mustard Oil (0.16%).
