Asia Cup 2023: What will happen if rain disrupts Pakistan vs India match on Sept 10

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has agreed to incorporate a reserve day in the high-voltage showdown between Pakistan and India during the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 due to severe rains in Colombo.

The tournament’s ninth match, which is in the Super 4 level, is scheduled for September 10.

If the clash is not completed by September 10, it will resume on September 11 from where it was interrupted.

The only Asia Cup match with a reserve day will be Pakistan vs. India.

On September 2, the two teams’ group stage encounter was similarly rained out.

The remaining matches of the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 round will be played in Colombo, Sri Lanka, however bad weather is predicted to disrupt the games.

Asia Cup 2023 playing conditions for the reserve day

Case 1. The match begins with 50 overs each side and is interrupted at 18 overs. The overs have been lowered to 40 overs per side, and the game is ready to resume. Rain falls just as another ball is bowled, and play is called off for the day.

Because the match did not resume under the revised overs, it shall be resumed on the reserve day at the original 50 overs for each side, with the overs decreased if necessary.

Case 2. The same as in Example 1, the match begins with 50 overs on each side and is interrupted at 19 overs. The overs have been lowered to 35 overs per side, and the game is ready to resume.

The same as in Example 1, the match begins with 50 overs on each side and is interrupted at 19 overs. The overs have been lowered to 35 overs per side, and the game is ready to resume.

Case 3. It is a game of 50 overs each side. The play is canceled due to early morning rain. Finally, the game will begin with a 30-over-per-side format. Nominations are made, and the coin toss is conducted.

However, due to additional rain, play is no longer possible after that. The players return the following day. The play begins on schedule. It’s now a 50-over-per-side game.
