Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Wednesday paid homage and tribute to the brave soldiers of Pakistan’s armed forces, especially the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives to ensure the nation’s peace, as the nation continues to struggle with security issues amid a rise in terrorism over the past few months.

As Pakistan faces numerous security threats in the form of extremism, terrorism, and external aggression, he reaffirmed the nation’s resolve to remain united with its defense forces to defeat nefarious plots against the integrity and prosperity of Pakistan.

Adding that the nation’s martyrs who chose martyrdom for the sake of their people and the country can never be forgotten and will always be in the nation’s hearts, PM Kakar, who laid a floral wreath at the Pakistan monument and prayed for the martyrs, emphasized how the Holy Quran mentions them with great reverence.

The prime minister remarked, referring to the moments of the brave soldiers’ martyrdom, This is the moment that appears to be death, but it is actually the moment of meeting with the immortal.

He said, This glorious day when the whole country stood shoulder to shoulder with its armed forces, calls upon everyone to make a pledge to renew the spirit of loyalty and service to Pakistan and pay respect to the soldiers of the armed forces.

The Defence and Martyrs Day is observed in remembrance of and tribute to the martyrs and veteran soldiers of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, renewing the commitment of the defense forces to protect the nation against all threats.

It was on this day in 1965 that the Indian forces crossed the international border to launch an attack on Pakistan, but the country’s brave forces foiled the nefarious designs of the enemy.

The day began with special prayers for the country’s success and prosperity as well as the independence of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals.

‘Armed forces committed to defend motherland’

On this occasion, the country’s armed forces, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff committee, and the service heads all paid homage to the fallen soldiers, their loved ones, and war veterans.

The country’s military leadership claimed in a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) that on September 6, 1965, it was once again demonstrated that a smaller but righteous force overcame a numerically larger enemy with professionalism, tenacity, and faith, according to Radio Pakistan.

The military’s top brass claimed that this day and the associated bravery and sacrifices continue to motivate future generations.
The ISPR stated that the nation’s military forces are still dedicated to protecting the motherland from all dangers, both internal and external.
