Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday demanded that the police and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) refrain from arresting him in any matter.

Through his counsel, Salman Safdar, the PTI chairman filed a petition in the IHC.

In his petition, the PTI chairman asked the IHC not to arrest him in any other matter. He also asked that his petition be heard today.

Toshakhana sentence verdict today

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) is expected to issue a reserved judgment today (Tuesday) on the plea filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman challenging his conviction and sentence in the Toshakhana case.

Earlier this month, a district and sessions court in the federal capital condemned Khan to three years in prison and fined him Rs100,000 for corrupt practices involving the state gift repository.

“Imran Khan deliberately submitted fake details [of Toshakhana gifts] to the ECP and is found guilty of corrupt practices,” the court concluded.

According to the court, the former prime minister was also barred from holding public office for five years.

The former prime minister, who has been disqualified from holding any public office due to the conviction, was arrested immediately after the trial court’s ruling and has since been incarcerated in Attock jail.
