Karachi police recovered stolen gold jewellery worth Rs4 million and safely returned it to the owner, demonstrating that law enforcement officials in Pakistan are performing their jobs despite the negative press.

Saira Mustafa Sheikh, a female traveller, landed in Karachi from Islamabad on an aircraft on August 7, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Hasan Sardar Niazi.

According to the SSP, when Ms Sheikh arrived home, she realised one of her bags was missing, which she remembered having failed to pick up from the luggage cart in the airport parking lot.

The woman subsequently filed a complaint with the Airport Police Station, claiming that the missing bag included Rs4 million in jewels, Rs40,000 in cash, numerous bank cards, and papers.

The police stated they questioned the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) and airline personnel but found no clues to the stolen suitcase.

Using closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, Station House Officer (SHO) Airport Kaleem Moosa learned that Ms Sheikh’s bag was snatched by the driver of a car parked nearby after she departed the airport.

According to the police, based on the vehicle’s documentation, it was registered to a firm, which they promptly called.

It was later discovered that the driver who discovered the abandoned bag had left it with the company’s security department.

The bag and its contents were turned over to the police by the company’s security employees.

The sealed bag was then returned to its proper owner, according to the law enforcement agency.

SSP Niazi presented awards to SHO Moosa and his crew for their outstanding performance.
