On the suggestion of Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Governor Kamran Tessori dissolved the Sindh Assembly on Friday.

Today, Governor Kamran Tessori signed CM Murad Ali Shah’s recommendation to dissolve the Sindh Assembly.

Following the collapse of the legislature, the provincial government was also disbanded, and the law department issued a notification on the occurrence.

Murad Ali Shah will continue to serve as chief minister till a caretaker CM is appointed.

Sindh Assembly completed its four-year, eleven-month, and 29-day term. The chief minister and the opposition leader will have three days after the dissolution of the Sindh Assembly to name a caretaker chief minister before the assembly’s five-year term ends.

Earlier in the day, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah stated that he will recommend to the governor that the provincial parliament be dissolved today.

In his last address to the Sindh Assembly today, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah stated that he will advise the governor to dissolve the assembly today.

He thanked the Sindh legislators for completing their five-year term. He also expressed gratitude to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leadership for their faith in him.

CM Shah stated that today is the last day of the Sindh Assembly and that finishing the five-year term was a difficult undertaking. He went on to say that he has been elected four times since 2002.

He claimed that some forces attempted to obstruct the proceedings of the Sindh Assembly and that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) administration retaliated against the province.

Opposition parties’ names

Sardar Abdul Rahim, leader of the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), stated yesterday that names for caretaker Sindh’s chief minister (CM) position will be revealed after the house is dissolved.

Sardar Abdul Rahim told a press conference with Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) officials that the names for the caretaker Sindh CM’s position would be revealed after the provincial assembly was dissolved.

He stated that the federal government had not decided on a name for the caretaker prime minister (PM). The GDA leader stated that the names of the caretaker chief minister and cabinet members were practically finalised.

He claimed that the leaders of the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) intend to continue their corrupt practices by swapping government jobs. Rahim further stated that a stop order on government jobs was granted at the request of the MQM-P.

The opposition parties, MQM-P and GDA, met to finalise the names for the caretaker government. GDA chief Sardar Abdul Rahim, Syed Ismail Shah, Husnain Mirza, MQM-P’s Javed Hanif, and Arshad Vohra led the news conference.
