General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has arrived in Iran for a two-day official visit.

COAS General Syed Asim Munir arrived in Iran on Friday for a two-day official visit, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

The army chief will meet with Iranian civilian and military figures during his visit. The army commander will address defence and security cooperation between Pakistan and Iran at upcoming meetings.

According to ISPR, earlier in the day, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir visited Quetta Garrison and inquired about the health of wounded soldiers from the Zhob terrorist attack.

COAS General Syed Asim Munir paid rich homage to Pakistan Army martyrs. The army chief was briefed on the latest terrorist incidents, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military services have voiced grave concern about the terror activities of the proscribed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which is based in Afghanistan.

The diplomats were briefed on the presence of TTP hideouts in Afghanistan and expressed optimism that the Afghan government will not allow its territory to be exploited against other countries.

The military’s media wing spokesperson encouraged the Afghan interim administration to ensure the implementation of the Doha accord. The armed forces have expressed concern over Afghan citizens being involved in terrorist strikes in Pakistan.
