Pakistan vs India clash on October 15 as ICC announces World Cup 2023 schedule

Pakistan will play India in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in Ahmedabad on October 15, according to the match schedule released by the cricket body.

Pakistan’s first two matches in the tournament will be against qualifiers on October 6 and 12.

The major event will begin on October 5 with a rematch of the 2019 50-over World Cup final between England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Pakistan will kick off their World Cup campaign against Qualifier 1 on October 6, followed by hosts India’s opening match against five-time World Cup winner Australia in Chennai on October 8.

The schedule for Cricket World Cup 2023:

The showcase tournament will feature ten teams, with the first eight having previously qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League.

The final two berths will be determined at the conclusion of the Qualifier competition, which is presently taking place in Zimbabwe. The event will wrap on July 9.

In a round-robin style, each team plays the other nine, with the top four qualifying for the knockout stage and semi-finals.

Knockout stages

The first semi-final will be held on November 15 in Mumbai and the second semi-final will be held on November 16 in Kolkata. Both semi-finals will have a reserve day.

The Final will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19 with November 20 slated as the reserve day.

All three knock-out fixtures will be day-night affairs, with the matches beginning at 14:00 local time.

The tournament will be hosted at 10 venues.

  • Ahmedabad
  • Dharamsala
  • Delhi, Chennai
  • Lucknow
  • Pune
  • Bengaluru
  • Mumbai
  • Kolkata

Meanwhile, warm-up matches will be hosted in Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, and Hyderabad from 29 September to 3 October.

October 15 – vs India in Ahmedabad

October 20 – vs Australia in Bengaluru

October 23 – vs Afghanistan in Chennai

October 27 – vs South Africa in Chennai

October 31 – vs Bangladesh in Kolkata

November 5 – vs New Zealand Bengaluru

November 12 – vs England in Kolkata
