KIA intends to increase its electric vehicle (EV) lineup by the end of 2027. According to Autocar, the Korean manufacturer plans to launch up to 15 electric vehicles globally over the next four years.

Kia’s European marketing chief, David Hilbert, noted that the company plans to serve a wide range of car categories with its EV lineup. This will comprise everything from a city-focused EV1 to a full-sized SUV called the EV9.

The smaller variants will be largely marketed in Europe. Kia will offer vehicles with different powertrain options in addition to pure EVs. In some markets, the Niro, for example, is available with electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

The objective is comparable to Toyota’s, which plans to introduce solid-state batteries with ranges of up to 1,450 kilometers by 2030.

The future Kia EV5 is set to make its debut in China later this year, followed by Europe, and maybe the United States in early 2024. Kia’s focus in Europe will be on smaller vehicles, including a subcompact crossover called the EV3, which will compete with the Peugeot e-2008.

They also have plans for an EV1 to compete with the Volkswagen ID.2, which will share a base with the next-generation Hyundai i10.

Despite the growing popularity of SUVs, Kia continues to provide hatchbacks and sedans in addition to its SUV collection. The business expects electrified vehicles to account for more than half of its global sales by 2030, with a target of 4.3 million units, a 34% increase over current volumes.
