Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif flew to France on Wednesday to attend the New Global Financing Pact Summit in Paris.

Premier Shehbaz Sharif is in France for a two-day official visit at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.

France will host the Paris Summit on June 22-23, 2023, with the goal of laying the groundwork for a new global funding architecture outside the Bretton Woods system to address climate change, biodiversity crises, and development difficulties.

Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, will address the summit as a G-77 leader and the leader of one of the world’s largest developing countries most affected by climate change.

He will discuss Pakistan’s views and ideas for reforming International Financial Institutions, climate funding, green infrastructure, achieving the SDGs, and debt solutions.

On the fringes of the Summit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will hold bilateral discussions with other international leaders.

Paris Summit

The Summit allows leaders to debate the contours of a new global architecture capable of solving the issues of financing sustainable development, the environment, energy transition, and climate change.

The Summit aims to define the principles and steps required for comprehensive reform of the international financial system in the run-up to other important international events and conferences over the next two years, as well as pave the way for a more balanced and fair partnership between the North and the South.

Pakistan will participate to the Summit debate as a significant global stakeholder, a leader in the G-77 and China, and one of the largest developing countries most affected by climate change.
