Naseem Shah is nearly the best fast bowler I have ever seen at that age: Tait
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterLinkedinWhatsapp

Former Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait, known for his scorching pace, has showered praise on Naseem Shah, calling him “nearly the best fast bowler he has ever seen at such a young age.”

Tait, who had a frightening reputation as a player, collaborated closely with 20-year-old Naseem during his term as Pakistan’s fast-bowling coach.

The 40-year-old praised Naseem’s ability and characterized him as a superb player with enormous potential. Despite conceding the difficulty of making such a claim, Tait asserted confidently that Naseem Shah is maybe the best fast bowler he has seen at that age.

“I just thought he [Naseem Shah] was fantastic. I loved working with him. I think at his age now, the early 20s, he is probably the best, and it is a big call, but I am going to say he is nearly the best fast bowler I have ever seen at that age,” Tait said while talking to a cricket website.

Naseem, according to Tait, possesses a unique skill set. The former Australian sprinter admires Naseem’s maturity and competitiveness, which are normally associated with more experienced players.

“In terms of ability, brains, desires, and competitiveness, he is nearly the perfect package.” There is no such thing, but he is getting close. He can swing the ball both ways when he wants to and can reverse the old ball. He bowls terrific yorkers and takes the pace off extremely effectively. He’s a superb player in my opinion. “He is also mature for his age,” he continued.

Tait’s tenure as Pakistan’s fast-bowling coach lasted 12 months, beginning in February 2022. His career with the team came to an end following Pakistan’s home ODI series against New Zealand in January of the following year. Tait’s employment allowed him to closely examine Naseem Shah’s skills and improvement, enabling him to lavish praise on the young fast bowler.
