Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to present the Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, by 4:30 pm. The order was made on Thursday after the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Umar Ata Bandial, expressed his disappointment over Khan’s arrest from the premises of Islamabad High Court (IHC), stating that it was a significant blow to the country’s judicial system.

Party chief’s arrest has been challenged by PTI, and a three-member bench, comprising of Chief Justice Bandial, Justice Athar Minallah, and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, was established to hear the case. During the proceedings, the Chief Justice expressed his displeasure over the arrest and demanded that NAB present Khan before the court by the afternoon.

The PTI has been at the forefront of Pakistan’s political scene, with Imran Khan leading the party’s charge. The party has been instrumental in bringing about significant changes to the country’s political landscape, and its leader’s arrest has raised concerns among PTI supporters.

The Supreme Court’s order has set a deadline for NAB to present Khan before the court, and it remains to be seen how the case will unfold. The development comes at a time when Pakistan is grappling with a myriad of issues, including the Covid-19 pandemic, an economic downturn, and political unrest.
