Meanwhile, President Dr. Arif Alvi stated that this year, the nation is celebrating Labour Day with a firm commitment to upholding the dignity of labor and honoring the courageous struggle of workers for their fundamental rights.

The president expressed, “Labour Day serves as a reminder of the workers’ struggle and recognizes their significant contribution to economic development. We firmly believe that workers and employers are partners in the production process, and their collaboration is crucial for industrial efficiency, leading to the socio-economic progress of our country.”

He expressed regret over the challenges faced by laborers, despite their contributions to economic prosperity. These challenges include unsafe working conditions, unfair labor practices, inadequate wages, lack of job security, workplace harassment of women, long working hours, and arbitrary dismissals.

“The labor force is the backbone of our economy, and it is essential to take measures to protect their rights by enforcing labor laws strictly, discouraging unfair labor practices,” he emphasized.

The president emphasized the necessity of equipping the vast labor force and the country’s youth with modern skills to accelerate the country’s economic development.

President Alvi expressed hope that the federal and provincial governments would continue their efforts to work for the welfare of workers and provide them with marketable skills.

He also urged the workers of the country to play their part in strengthening and invigorating the economy, while calling upon employers to ensure the protection of labor rights and work towards their welfare.
