The ITF World Tennis Tour Junior Finals will be held from October 16 to 22 at the Sichuan International Tennis Centre in Chengdu, China.

According to a press release, the event celebrates the greatest Junior players from the previous twelve months within the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors, which gives opportunities for players aged 18 and under to compete globally.

The Tour consists of seven tiers (J30, J60, J100, J200, J300, J500, and Junior Grand Slams) with approximately 800 tournaments hosted in 140 countries.

The event would return to Chengdu in conjunction with the Chinese Tennis Association, Chengdu Sports Bureau, and Chengdu Shuangliu District Bureau of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, following successful events from 2015 to 2019.

Previous players include 2022 US and French Open finalist Casper Ruud, current US No.1 Taylor Fritz, reigning Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, and Leylah Fernandez, who finished second in the US Open in 2021.

Andrey Rublev (2015), Marta Kostyuk (2017), Holger Rune (2019), and Diane Parry (2019) are previous champions.

The finals would include the top eight boys and girls in the ITF World Tennis Tour Junior Finals Qualification Rankings, which would take into account results from the previous 52 weeks up to Monday, September 11. If no Chinese player finishes in the top eight, the final spot in each draw is held as a wildcard for any Chinese player finishing in the top 25. If no Chinese player finishes in the top 25, the eighth position will be returned to the qualification rankings list.

For the Boys and Girls events, an alternate player would be awarded in 2023. This player would be a Chinese player if they are placed in the top 100 in the final qualification rankings in 2023.

The winner of each event would get 750 points in the ITF Junior Rankings, which would improve their ITF Junior Year-End Ranking position, allowing them to compete in Professional tournaments as a Junior Exempt (Girls) or Junior Accelerator (Boys).

The winner in both the boys’ and girls’ competitions in 2023 will get $17,000 USD, with travel grants distributed at every level down to those in eighth place, who will receive $8,500 USD.

The ITF President, David Haggerty, stated, “The ITF World Tennis Tour Junior Finals is a prestigious event that provides the ideal platform for players to progress through the ITF World Tennis Tour, which is the main artery into the top levels of the game.”
