The Sindh government has announced that all educational institutions in Sindh will remain closed on April 18, which is Shab-e-Qadar. According to a notification from the School Education and Literacy Department, this decision was made in a Steering Committee Meeting held on February 22, 2022.

Shab-e-Qadar, also known as the night of power, is observed across the country on the 27th day of Ramadan, and believers seek forgiveness from Allah on this auspicious occasion.

It’s worth noting that the federal government has also announced a five-day holiday on account of Eid ul Fitr. This means that all government, semi-government, and private organizations, factories, banks, and educational institutions will remain closed from April 21 to 25.

Ramadan 2023 began on March 23, after much confusion during the meeting for the moonsighting. While the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet on April 20 for the sighting of the Eid ul Fitr crescent moon, a statement from the religious affairs ministry has confirmed this.

The meeting is set to take place at the religious affairs ministry in Islamabad and will be presided over by Ruet-e-Halal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad. The statement also noted that the zonal committees’ meetings will be held at designated locations across the country.
