Brad Sherman, the representative for California’s 32nd congressional district, has urged Pakistan’s political parties to follow the Supreme Court’s decisions as the country’s political crisis worsens due to the ruling alliance’s refusal to carry out the top court’s ruling on provincial elections.

The US lawmaker spoke by phone on Tuesday with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan about the Supreme Court’s directive to hold polls in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He allegedly urged the PTI leader to abide by the law and the Supreme Court’s ruling.

Taking to Twitter, Sherman shared some details of his conversation with the ousted prime minister. He said that he was surprised to know that Khan was working in the wee hours of the morning.

Just spoke to former Prime Minister #ImranKhan of #Pakistan. Surprised that he's working in the wee hours of the morning. He also spoke to my friend, @DrMahmood40. Spoke about today's Pakistani Supreme Court decision. (1/2)

The parties must respect the law and Supreme Court decisions for republics to work, Sherman stated on Twitter.
When the top court ruled in support of PTI, the party that has been requesting new elections in the country for almost a year, it was a victory for the party.

Imran Khan has recently gained support from US congressmen and powerful individuals, particularly now that his party has hired a new lobbying firm in Washington.

TwittRuling alliance is still upset about the SC decision

The coalition government is currently in conflict with the SC after a panel of three judges unanimously ruled that the Election Commission’s decision to postpone the Punjab elections was unconstitutional.

At a joint party meeting on Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif claimed that the nation’s destiny was being decided in an odd manner and that the Constitution and laws of the nation as a whole were being made a mockery of it.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz took a stricter stance, saying that the government should do more than simply reject the judgment. The meeting reviewed various options to effectively react to the verdict.

According to Shehbaz, the allied parties also conducted a meeting with the lawyers.

Through a video link, PML-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari took part in the gathering. Maryam Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif insisted that a reference be made against the three judges who made up the panel.

The other attendees of the meeting agreed that the parliament should assert its authority and take a tough position without making any excuses.
