British Department for Transport (DFT) has decided to provide modern machines to Pakistan airports for security purposes.
According to sources, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has decided to install modern security machines, provided by DFT, at Lahore and Karachi airports.
The machines can inspect passengers’ bags and luggage because they are equipped with current technology.
The CAA will receive this equipment free of charge from the British Department for Transport (DFT).
The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) management and the British Department for Transport (DfT) had made an agreement in February of last year to establish an entirely new security system at the country’s airports.

The decision had been made during a meeting between the three-person British transport department team and representatives of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), Airports Security Force (ASF), and PIA (PCAA).
He said that the initiative was a continuation of Pakistan’s and the British High Commission’s combined efforts to increase aviation safety, as a similar training session had previously taken place at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIAP).
