The government is emphasizing encouraging the production of power from renewable energy sources, according to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who on Sunday ordered the swift completion of solar and wind energy projects.

The premier emphasized that renewable sources would generate affordable and environmentally sustainable electricity while presiding over a meeting on renewable energy here.

He noted that 220 million people in the country suffered as a result of the previous government’s “incompetency and criminal negligence” in failing to complete the solar and wind energy projects that his party’s previous administration, the PML-N, had started.

He said that progress on the 10,000-megawatt solar power plants was being made quickly.

According to him, the solar energy projects will help save valuable foreign currency that is currently being used to import expensive fuel.

He argued that the relevant organizations should right away develop a plan for utilizing the nation’s solar and wind resources to their greatest potential. He assured that all obstacles in the way of renewable energy projects would be removed.

The meeting attendees were given detailed information about the country’s current wind and solar energy resources, the progress of active projects, and the delayed projects.

It was mentioned that 6000-megawatt solar and wind power projects were also being examined to create affordable, environmentally friendly electricity in addition to the 10,000-megawatt renewal energy projects now under construction.

Federal ministers Ishaq Dar, Khurram Dastgir, Ahsan Iqbal, Special Assistant to PM Jehanzeb Khan, Adviser Ahad Cheema, and officials concerned attended the meeting.
