Imran Khan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), urged his fans and team members to get ready for a nationwide “Jail Bharo” action on Saturday.
Khan’s remarks follow the filing of sedition charges against his party’s Senior Vice-President Fawad Chaudhry and former National Assembly member Shandana Gulzar, as well as the earlier arrests of Senator Azam Swati and Shahbaz Gill for speaking out against the military.
The deposed prime minister stated during his televised speech that his party had the option of calling a statewide strike but decided against it due to concerns that the nation’s economy might continue to deteriorate.
