New free shuttle service for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims was just announced by Jeddah, Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz International Airport. To help and facilitate pilgrims who will worship in Masjid al-Haram, this service is provided.

According to a statement from the airport, the new service will transport Hajj and Umrah passengers from Terminal 1 of the airport in Jeddah to Masjid al-Haram in Makkah.

Every two hours, from 10 am to 10 pm, the transportation facility will leave from the airport in Jeddah, according to a report published by the Saudi Gazette on January 12th. They will leave every two hours from midday to midnight throughout Masjid al-working Haram’s hours in Makkah.

More information was provided, including the fact that pilgrims who fulfill the following conditions are entitled to free shuttle bus transportation:

  • Wearing the Ihram clothes
  • Show the national identity of citizens/residents
  • Show the passport for foreigners.

According to reports, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia still is constructing supplementary transportation infrastructure to make it simpler for pilgrims to get to the Two Holy Mosques and will open the Haramain high-speed train to the general public in 2022. From Makkah to Madinah, the railway transports passengers and other pilgrims.

The massive project is the largest railroad in the Middle East and will cost 60 billion Saudi riyals, or 16 billion dollars. The intended annual capacity of the railway is 60 million people. King Abdullah Economic City and Jeddah King Abdulaziz International Airport are also stops on the Haramain train line (KAEC).

Chairman of the Public Transport Authority (PTA) Rumaih Al-Rumaih said the operation for passengers marked a shift in national history in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s modern transportation industry. He said the train operates from Thursday to Sunday, four days a week.
