India has invited Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to attend the meetings of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) scheduled for later this year.

Pakistan, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and India are all members of the SCO, a significant regional organization. It largely focuses on socio-economic cooperation, trade, and finance among SCO member states.

India now occupies the forum presidency. This year, it will host a number of activities, including a gathering of chief justices from member countries and a debate among foreign ministers.

According to sources, CJP Bandial and FM Bilawal still haven’t replied to the invites.

Relations between the nuclear-armed neighboring countries have remained heightened since India revoked the special status of the occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Bilawal Bhutto calls for collective approach to tackle climate change challenges

In his address to the Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization’s 26th meeting in Tashkent, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasized the importance of a team effort to confront the problems the area is facing, especially climate change.

He said the regional countries need to develop a strategically robust emergency response mechanism to respond to any climate crisis in the future. He noted that the issue of climate cooperation is very significant.

The proposal from Uzbekistan to create a high-level dialogue platform on environmental cooperation inside the ECO framework was supported by the foreign minister.

He said Pakistan’s urgent objective is to ensure rapid economic growth and bring millions out of poverty and hunger, alluding to the devastation caused by floods in that country. He promised that we will rebuild not only stronger but also more climate-resiliently.

According to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan thinks that the ECO, guided by common values of solidarity and mutual aid, has the strength to meet the difficulties. Together, we can and must change things.

He said a regional preferential trade framework amongst the ECO members will help us in enhancing cooperation. He said Pakistan will continue to accord high priority to trade promotion and facilitation within the ECO.
