The political community greeted the new year in anticipation of good news and blessings for Pakistan in light of the destruction brought on by devastating floods, rising inflation, and economic and political stability.
Using the microblogging platform Twitter, President Dr. Arif Alvi wished the country and the world a good new year.
May Allah bless Pakistan, Muslim countries, and the entire world this year, he prayed.
While wishing the country a happy new year, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif prayed for Pakistan’s political and economic stability in 2023.
The premier declared that 2022 would be yet another difficult year for Pakistan as a result of the severe flooding, which created several economic difficulties. He also promised to improve the lives of the flood victims.
“2022 was the year the people marched, parliament triumphed over the selected, we came together to save Pakistan,” he added.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, resorting to his criticism of the incumbent government, said that 2022 was the best and worst of times for Pakistan.
“Through a conspiracy driven by utmost self-interest, a [government] with one of the best economic performances was overthrown, and Pakistan was given to a group of criminals. They destroyed the economy, awarded themselves NRO2, and by changes to the NAB statute allowed all white collar criminals to rob “explained he.
Despite all parties coming together against PTI, the former premier claimed that he had never before witnessed Pakistanis uniting as a nation and expressed his hope that PTI will form a government in 2023.
He declared, “My resolution for the New Year is to use my energy and time to help people out of tough situations, to help flood victims get back on their feet, and to put Pakistan on the path to growth and stability.
The premier also promised the youth to bring new opportunities and paid homage to the martyrs of the country.
The year 2023, according to foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, will see victories over hate, the truth over lies, and division.
Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah prayed that Pakistan sees a year of peace, development and prosperity, hoping to get rid of terrorism and extremism in 2023.
The minister honoured the martyrs who gave their lives in defence of the country.
Inflation, terrorism, oppression and injustice, falsehoods and hatred are all things that information minister Marriyum Aurangzeb hoped would disappear in the next year.
PTI Secretary General Asad Umar said: “May this year be auspicious for Pakistan.”
