In light of the nation’s ongoing political crisis, Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and a former prime minister proposed coalition government conditional discussions on Friday
While speaking to the PTI’s Punjab parliamentary party via video link from his Zaman Park mansion in Lahore, the PTI chairman made a dialogue offer to the PDM administration.
Imran Khan stated that if Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies were dissolved, 66% of Pakistan would have to vote in the by-elections. He also extended an invitation to the PDM government over the potential of early general elections.
He continued by saying that Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, the chief minister of Punjab, will dissolve the provincial legislature on his first call and that PTI has the full support of the PML-Q.
In a video message, Khan threatened to dissolve Punjab and KP parliament if no election date was provided, saying that the current government lacked a plan for reviving the economy.
Imran lamented the rising unemployment and inflation rates under the current government and declared that early general elections were the only way to prevent the country from going into default.
The former premier also slammed Federal Minister Ishaq Dar over his “poor” economic policies.
Imran Khan — who called off his long march to Islamabad last week — had announced quitting assemblies across the country, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
“We will not be part of this country’s political system. We have decided to quit all assemblies,” the former premier had said while addressing the party workers and supporters at Rawalpindi Jalsa.
