‘Safe tourist program’ approved for Murree

Before the start of the winter tourism season in the next month, a comprehensive tourist program has been approved to guarantee the entire safety of the visiting families in Murree and the nearby Galiyat region.

In accordance with the program, preparations have been made for security, vehicle inspections, and round-the-clock snow removal in the district, where general “Tourism Services Rules” will also be governed. To promote tourism, Kaghan-style rules are also being used in Murree.

The Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi bench is also expected to release its most significant ruling in the case involving the Murree disaster from January of this year during the legal week beginning on October 31.

The first ten days of November mark the beginning of Murree’s winter tourism season, which peaks from December 1 to February 28. From December 25 to February 28th, a record number of snow enthusiasts visit Murree.

During the snowy season, the traffic police will not permit more than the designated number of vehicles to enter Murree, and beyond 17 miles of the Toll Plaza, no vehicle will be permitted to enter the district regardless of the number that the district administration and traffic police officers may decide.

There are 215 small and large hotels in Murree overall, according to the report of the Rawalpindi deputy commissioner, and over 150 locals rent out their homes and common places.

Hotels and guesthouses in Murree have a total accommodation capacity of 24,239 tourists under the tourism standard policy.

According to the legal standard, the parking areas established in Murree can park 4,200 vehicles. The rest of the vehicles are parked on the side of the road in adjacent alleyways, which creates problems. Additionally, a uniformed civil defense force will be stationed in Murree to safeguard visitors from confrontations throughout the winter months. The local youth-led civil defense team will also be equipped with walkie-talkies and batons.

The members of this force will be spread out in the city’s major markets in various shifts. 15 volunteers from a civil defense will make up the force. A total of 50 more traffic wardens will be dispatched to Murree to manage the city’s traffic for the entire season.
