For the launch of a digital learning initiative that will enable online education and distance learning for high school students, TikTok has teamed up with LUMS and Pakistan’s first Edtech start-up, Edkasa. The “ExamReady” program, which is supported by TikTok, will promote digital learning to assist millions of Pakistani students.

Fahad Tanveer and Annum Sadiq, a husband and wife team, founded Edkasa after realizing that Pakistan’s outdated and useless educational system had nothing to offer the country’s young people. They want a modernized educational facility, which no one was providing in Pakistan. In an interview, Annum stated that;

 “We empathize with the fact that parents, teachers, schools, and society at large have a lot of resources, time, and effort vested in high-school students. We want to see students get top marks, continue their higher education, and increase our country’s knowledge-based economy,”

Through a year-long agreement, TikTok, Edkasa, and LUMS will work together to create more than 500 educational videos for the internet that span the subjects of chemistry, physics, and mathematics as well as study advice and exam-taking strategies. While Edkasa, as the project’s implementing partner, will create all of the content and host it on TikTok and other social media profiles, the Syed Ahsan Ali and Syed Maratib Ali School of Education at LUMS will offer advice on teaching methodologies and handle monitoring and evaluation of the project. The first batch of program content is anticipated to launch in August of this year.

Farah Tukan, Head of Government Relations & Public Policy at TikTok – Middle East, Turkey, Africa & Pakistan (METAP) said:

“This partnership with LUMS and Edkasa promises digital access to quality education for everyone. We look forward to working together for the nationwide promotion of literacy, and to enable Pakistani students to use our platform to hone their knowledge and skills to set themselves up for successful professional lives.”

Edtech company Edkasa, based in Lahore, has announced today that it has secured $320,000 in pre-seed funding from i2i Ventures. Despite being closed a few months ago, the round was just revealed today. Walled City Co., Zayn Capital, and “strategic angel investors” from Southeast Asia are also participants. Additionally, Edkasa has announced the availability of its exam-preparation app for high school (matric and intermediate) pupils, which was made available earlier this week on the Google Play Store.
