On Thursday, Pakistan and Iraq decided to start a ferry service between the two nations to make it easier for zaireen to travel from the South Asian nation.
During a meeting in the nation’s capital, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and Iraqi Ambassador Hamid Abbas Lafta came to an accord.
The ferry service between Basra and Karachi will begin, but the exact starting date has not yet been announced. The “Pakistan-Iraq Pilgrim Agreement,” which is anticipated to be signed later this year, was also discussed by both senior officials.
According to the official television, they also decided to set aside a certain number of visas for Pakistani pilgrims visiting Iraq.
The Interior Minister expressed his gratitude to the Iraqi government for granting visas to 60,000 Pakistani pilgrims traveling to Arbaeen Hazrat Imam Hussain.
The pilgrim agreement, according to him, will offer better amenities to the millions of Zaireen who travel to Karbala, Baghdad, and Najaf each year.
The Iraqi envoy promised to strengthen bilateral ties and give Pakistani pilgrims the finest visa options possible.
