On Wednesday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered that fuel adjustment fees should not be added to electricity bills.
Details indicate that the high court was hearing a petition made in opposition to the collecting of fuel adjustment fees from consumers through electricity bills.
The petitioner argued that the federal government’s judgment should be reversed since collecting the fees from consumers will ultimately result in an increase in the cost of electricity.
The federal government, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Lahore Electric Supply Power Company (LESCO), and other parties have also received notices from the Lahore High Court about the collection of FAC in the bills.
It is important to note that 17 million of the nation’s energy consumers will be excused from paying the high fuel costs adjustment (FCA) on their electricity bills, as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Tuesday.
