The third Mount Everest International Open Taekwondo Championship, which will take place in Nepal from September 20 to September 25, will feature Pakistan.

Pakistan will compete in the Khyurogi and Poomsae events of the competition, according to Col (Retd) Waseem Ahmed Janjua, president of the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation.

He added that in addition to hosting the G-2 level and Combaxx 4th Asian Open Taekwondo Championship this year, Pakistan would also send teams to other international competitions.

“We are satisfied with the performance of athletes in the Games,” he added in reference to the Islamic Games held in Turkey.

“Our athletes have made us proud as they performed well in the Muslim World’s biggest sports event, in which more than 45 Muslim countries took part. Despite not winning any medals our athletes showcased some great performances.”

Waseem claimed that the best taekwondo athletes from Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Morocco competed in the Games’ Taekwondo competition. “The Taekwondo Federation works to give players as many opportunities at the national and international levels as possible.”

Fateemah Tuz Zahraa placed sixth in the 49 kg female weight category for the Taekwondo Team during the 5th Islamic Games, while Naqash Hamdani placed seventh in the 53 kg female weight category and Noor Rehman placed seventh in the -57 female weight category.

Haroon Khan, who placed sixth in the 58 kg Male Weight Category, and Mazhar Abbas, who placed sixth in the 80 kg Male Weight Category, are two male athletes who did well in the competition.

Hamza Omar Saeed, who placed ninth in the Super Heavyweight Male category, was another notable athlete.

Omar Saeed, the CEO of the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation, announced that in order to develop and improve their techniques, players would be sent to Iran in October for a one-month training program with Iranian experts.
