Out of the entire Rs 352 million allotted over the last three years, Pakistan Railways has used funds totaling Rs 167.659 million to ensure safe and secure travel for the Balochistan province’s passengers.

In 2018–19, the government allotted Rs121 million, of which the department spent Rs 42.430 million. In 2019–20 and 2020–21, the government allotted Rs117 million and Rs 114 million, respectively, of which Rs 33.593 million and Rs 91.636 million were used.

According to him, Balochistan’s Pakistan Railways infrastructure is being maintained in accordance with the resources at hand to ensure that passengers can travel in safety and security.

“Railway track in Balochistan consists of Sibi-Quetta-Chaman, Spzand-Taftan and Sibi-Hurnai and some portion of Jacobabad Sibi section,” the official added.

Along with upgrading the waiting rooms at various station buildings, he added that a variety of upgraded facilities for the convenience of the passengers had been supplied, including toilets and drinking water.

The official added that 25 bridges had been rebuilt and repaired, in addition to the renovation and reconstruction of 10 railway station structures on the Sibi-Harnai section.

In response to a question, he stated that the Frontier Work Origination (FWO) was given the contract for the renovation of the track between Sama Satta and Bahawalnagar on the Sama Satta-Amruka segment last year.

According to him, the contract for track rehabilitation cost Rs. 7735.000 million in total. 16 firms bought the bid materials, but only one firm entered the competition.
