Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Risalpur and Nowshehra, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Thursday.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), opened the School of Armour and Mechanized Warfare in Nowshera, a newly built training center for Chinese-origin Tank VT4 that the Pakistan Army introduced last year.

During his visit to the school, the Army Chief, according to ISPR, was also informed on the training components of the institution with a focus on the mechanized warfare training schedule as per future battlefield requirements.

The training facility will offer state-of-the-art training systems to train Armoured Corps officers and soldiers on the Pakistani army’s recently acquired VT-4 tanks, one of the most effective and contemporary war fighting equipment.

He also opened the Center of Excellence for Mechanized Warfare Training, which would help students develop their tactical and technical skills.

The Army Chief earlier praised the School of Armour and Mechanized Warfare for keeping up with changing battlefield difficulties and educating officers and soldiers to face new threats.

He recognized the remarkable efforts made by the Corps of Engineers during numerous missions, particularly in counterterrorism.

General Bajwa put a floral wreath at the Shahuada monument upon his arrival at the Military College of Engineering in Risalpur and offered Fateha.

He visited MCE and was briefed about training modules and various training facilities at MCE including Counter IEDs Explosive Munition School, Combat and Civil Engineering wings.

The Army chief was briefed that CEMS, a state of the art training facility, is contributing phenomenally for training of Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Navy, and Police as well as officials from friendly countries.

This training has been a key element for successful operations during war against terror. It enabled manpower to search and identify IEDS laid by terrorists and clearing and dismantling terrorists infrastructure and area clearance ensuring force protection.

Additionally, General Bajwa went to MCE’s Structural Lab, which was created to test and validate numerous standards for large infrastructures. Additionally, he met the Corps of Engineers team that won the international PACES competition and praised their expertise and professionalism.
