Pakistan’s Cueist Ahsan Ramzan managed to beat American Ahmed Aly Elsayed 3-1 and progress to the quarter-finals of the World Games.
The 16-year-old starred in his opening fixture, only losing one frame as the 11th edition of the multi-sport event is underway in Alabama, United States of America.
In the first game, Pakistan’s cueist took the lead. However, the USA player came back in the second frame to level the match with a frame score of 58-49. Ahsan then won the rest of the games.
The only athlete representing Pakistan in the event will compete against the winner of the Ka Wai Cheung vs Wayne Brown match in the quarter-finals on July 15.
The Games were originally postponed due to the outbreak of the Covid pandemic. However, they have now returned to the USA after 40 years. The World Games celebrated their première in 1981 in Santa Clara, California, and it is hoped that they will be just as successful this time around.
Ahsan Ramzan recently won the final of the International Billiards and Snooker Federation, defeating Iran’s Amir Sarkosh in the Qatari capital. The cueist reportedly left his education behind in Grade 8 and turned to professional snooker after the death of his father.
