KPK Government Launches Several Infrastructural Projects

KPK – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government launches several infrastructural projects aiming for the prosperity of the less developed areas. The main goal of these projects is not only well-connected areas but also opening windows of opportunities, educated the NH official. It also aims at ending the deprivation in the rural areas of the region.

Giving details about the allocations made for various NHA projects in ongoing Public Sector Development Programme, he said for dualization and improvement of Old Bannu Road, Rs.4 billion had been earmarked whereas for dualization and improvement of Pindigheb-Kohat Road, partially in Rs. 4.5 billion had been allocated. Furthermore, Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Corridor Development Investment Programme Tranche-I Projects funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB), Rs. 2.5 billion had been allocated out of which Rs. 1 billion was foreign aid. About 36 km Peshawar-Dara Adam Khail Section of N-55 was one of the three projects being carried out under the allocation.

Adding more he said, for the construction of Burhan-Havelian Expressway (E-35), Rs. 1.5 billion had been allocated out of which Rs. 500 million was foreign aid. For the construction of 118 km Havelian-Thakot, which was part of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Rs. 2.5 billion had been allocated out of which Rs. 2.0 billion were from foreign aid.

Moreover, the KPK Government told Rs. 20 billion had been allocated to the building of M-1 from Burhan Halka to Dera Ismael. The project is likely to be completed this year.

Rs. 5.0 billion had been specified for the dualization of Indus Highway (N-55) Sarai Gambila-Kohat Section. He said for Lowari Road Tunnel and Access Roads Project, Rs. 2 billion had been earmarked and for the construction of Malakand Tunnel (Phase-I), Rs. 1.0 billion had been earmarked. Rs. 3.50 billion had been allocated and for Khyber Pass Economic Corridor Project, Rs. 1.50 billion had been earmarked out of which Rs. 500 million were in foreign aid.
