The Saudi business delegation expressed keen interest in importing sports goods from Pakistan to the kingdom during their visit to Sialkot city on Wednesday.

This high-level business delegation, led by Saudi-Pak Business Council Chairman Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Bash, arrived in Islamabad on Monday and has met with business leaders and Pakistani government officials in Lahore and Sialkot.

The delegation comprises representatives of 30 Saudi companies who want to explore business and joint venture opportunities in Pakistan.

On Wednesday, the Saudi businesspersons visited industrial units for sports and surgical items in Sialkot, a city known for its manufacturing and exporting of high-quality sports goods.

The group visited the units of three companies: Forward Sports (Pvt) Limited, Elmed Instruments (Pvt) Limited and Hilbro International (Pvt) Limited to assess the quality of sports and surgical instruments.

“It was a wonderful visit and they [Saudi delegation] took a keen interest in all our projects,” Shahid Mahmood, the general manager of Forward Sports, told Arab News over the phone.

Al-Bash, the head of the Saudi delegation, has suggested establishing a warehouse for our sports products in the Kingdom and then sending them to Saudi markets,” he said, adding that his company would discuss the proposal via online meetings.

On Tuesday, the delegation visited Lahore in Pakistan’s Punjab province to meet Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz. During the meeting, the Saudi delegation expressed interest in investing in agriculture, livestock, and the social sector.

The chief minister’s office released a statement afterwards, saying that Shahbaz advised the Saudi delegation to invest in the province where its technology could turn thousands of acres of land into an oasis.

“We want to take advantage of investment opportunities in agriculture, livestock and other sectors in Punjab,” Al-Bash was quoted as saying in the statement by the chief minister’s office.

The business delegation will next travel to Faisalabad and then Karachi before departing for the kingdom on June 27.
