Pakistan, Japan agree to enhance cooperation in IT

Pakistan and Japan on Tuesday agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of information technology between the two countries.

The delegation of the Japanese Association of Commerce and Industry led by Ambassador of Japan in Pakistan Mitsuhiro Wada visited the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication (MoITT) on Wednesday.

Additional Secretary, MoITT Aisha Humera Moriani, Member Telecom Muhammad Omar Malik, Member IT Syed Junaid Imam, Member International Coordination (IC) Ajmal Anwar Awan, Member Legal Babar Sohail, and DG IC Syed Jawwad Ali Sherazi attended the meeting.

Talking to Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Mitsuhiro WADA, Federal Minister for IT Syed Amin Ul Haque said Pakistan greatly values its relations with Japan.

Additional Secretary (Incharge) Ministry of IT and Telecom Mohsin Mushtaq welcomed the Japanese delegation, and during the meeting matters of mutual interests related to investment in the IT and telecom sector of Pakistan were discussed. The two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in the field of IT and the Telecom sector between the two countries.

Syed Amin Ul Haque said that Pakistan has great potential in the field of IT and Japan can benefit from the expertise of Pakistani IT professionals.

Japanese IT companies can hire the services of Pakistani IT experts, he added. He said that the Ministry of IT & Telecom would extend every possible cooperation to facilitate Japanese companies.

The Ambassador of Japan said Pakistani youth were able and talented and Pakistan’s IT experts can be beneficial for Japan. He also lauded the steps of the Ministry of IT & Telecom for the uplift of the IT and telecom sector.

Mohsin Mushtaq urged the Japanese companies to invest in the IT and Telecom sector of Pakistan as the country has a conducive atmosphere for investment.

Senior officers of the Ministry of IT were also present in the meeting.
