ISLAMABAD: German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, on Tuesday arrived in Islamabad on a two-day visit to hold talks with Pakistani leadership on matters of mutual interests.
On her arrival at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, and other senior officials accorded her a warm welcome.
She is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. In his tweet he said:
The two foreign ministers will hold delegation-level talks on a variety of bilateral issues as well as exchange views on regional and global issues, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. FM Baerbock will also meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
At a media conference in Islamabad alongside her Pakistani counterpart Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the German diplomat said Pakistan is going above and beyond to help everybody with their transit refugees. This is the face of Pakistan, a modern Muslims nation playing a responsible role on the world stage – FM talks about providing aid to Afghan refugees & other nations.
Germany is a valued partner of Pakistan, both bilaterally and in the context of the European Union. The two countries have long-standing, cordial relations marked by mutual respect and close cooperation. The two sides attach special importance to strengthening bilateral cooperation in diverse fields, including trade and investment, energy, defense, and people-to-people contacts, according to Foreign Ministry.
Pakistan and Germany completed 70 years of diplomatic ties in 2021. This milestone was celebrated by the two sides in a befitting manner, with a series of events held in Pakistan and Germany, it added.
The visit of the Foreign Minister Baerbock is part of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries and is expected to impart further boost to the multi-faceted Pakistan-Germany relationship.
