The Capital Development Authority (CDA) decided on Monday to contract a government firm to remove rubbish and keep metro bus stops between Peshawar Mor and Islamabad International Airport clean.
According to the CDA board, which gathered with Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed in the chair, only government firms operating under section 42 (F) of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) shall be used for trash collection and cleaning along the new metro bus tracks.
Under this clause, any government organization can make a contract with a state-owned company. Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) and Lahore Waste Management Company are the top government competitors, according to the board.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the bus track last week. The metro bus service is providing free rides to riders throughout Ramadan.
The board also decided to provide authority workers with an Eid allowance.
The PML-N government began work on a 25.6-kilometer bus track for PKR 16 billion in 2017. The project was supposed to be completed in a year, but owing to a change of administration in 2018, it has been considerably delayed.
Meanwhile, the board considered new rules for petrol stations in Islamabad, agreeing that the establishment of convenience stores and eateries near stations would be restricted.
