The Lahore Waste Management Company’s (LWMC) operation staff works relentlessly to ensure that rural and urban union councils remain clean.
On Thursday, LWMC Deputy CEO Ahmad Ayaz accompanied LWMC Chief Executive Officer Rafia Haider on a tour of the city’s various areas to assess the ongoing cleanup efforts.
According to Ahmad Ayaz, LWMC’s capacity building has increased with the addition of additional dumpers to the company’s operational fleet.
He said that the LWMC collects around 6,300 tonnes of trash from the provincial capital on a daily basis.
Band Road, Shahdara, the Jahangir tomb, and other Ravi town landmarks received extra cleaning attention.
The Deputy CEO evaluated the cleaning activities at Ferozpur Road, Muslim Town, Kalma Chowk, Barkat Market, Jinnah Hospital, Maulana Shaukat Ali Road, Raiwind Road, Jati Umrah, Adda plot, and other areas.
Operation teams and monitoring officials have been ordered to be vigilant in the field throughout all three shifts. Garbage and refuse collection teams have also been sent to the roadside.
The teams were also directed by LWMC CEO Rafia Haider to maintain the historical legacy clean. Sloppiness in cleaning procedures, she added, would not be tolerated.
