KP chief minister to lay the foundation stone of Swat Motorway Phase-II

Mahmood Khan, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), will lay the foundation stone for Swat Motorway Phase-II.

The meeting was briefed on the progress of Swat Motorway Phase II, which would be constructed at Rs58 billion and will run from Chakdara to Fatehpur. It was also revealed that a concessionaire agreement for the project’s implementation had been signed. It was revealed that Rs6.7 billion had been aside for the project’s land purchase. In addition, section four was enacted for land purchase.

The Chief Minister also urged the concerned parties to speed up the acquisition of land for the Dir Motorway project’s PC 1 so that actual construction on the project may begin. He was presiding over a meeting of the Pakhtunkhwa Highways Authority to discuss the status of various road projects, including the Swat Motorway Phase II and the Dir Motorway.

The Swat motorway will have four lanes at first but will be expanded to six lanes in the future. Chakdara Interchange, Malam Jabba-University of Swat Interchange, Sher Palam Interchange, Shamozai Interchange, Barikot Interchange, Mingora Interchange, Kanju Interchange,  Matta Khawazakhela Interchange, and Madin-Fatehpur Interchange would be among the nine interchanges.

On the Swat River, a total of eight bridges will be built. The project also includes the construction of four rest facilities in various places, as well as the construction of connection roads if needed.

PHA officials briefed the huddle on Dir Motorway that an Expression of Interest for a 30 km long Dir Motorway from Chakdara to Rabat has been floated. Three interchanges, four flyovers, 24 bridges, two underpasses, and two tunnels will be part of this road project. These initiatives, according to the Chief Minister, are a “milestone” for the Malakand division’s long-term development since they will assist to enhance tourism, trade, and economic operations. “These initiatives will provide job chances for the local population in addition to providing transportation facilities,” he stated.
