Heer Soho, a Sindh Assembly lawmaker, is going to make history by becoming the first-ever woman chieftain of her tribe after the death of her father.
Heer Soho’s father Sardar Ismail Soho was a long-time member of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and played an active role in movement for restoration of democracy (MRD).
Belonging to Mirpur Bathoro Tehsil of Sujawal district, Heer Soho was elected member of provincial assembly (MPA) on the reserved seat after she left the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and joined the PPP.
After the holy month of Ramazan, the Soho tribe will officially install her as chieftainess on her late father’s Chaliswan (40th day of mourning).
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Heer said it would be a great responsibility for her to become a first woman tribal chief of Sindh and her community.
She added that she would lead her tribe like her father.
The MPA is also a member of Standing Committee on Information and Archives, Standing Committee on Law and Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights.
