Judge Umar Ata Bandial was sworn in as Pakistan’s 28th Chief Justice

President Arif Alawi was sworn in. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Military Chief of Lieutenant General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Speaker of Parliament Asad Qaiser, Speaker Sadiq Sanjrani, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Information Minister Fouad Chaudhry, Supreme Court Judges, and various senior lawyers. ministers. Judge Umar Ata Bandial will hold the highest judicial office until September 16, 2023. He was previously Chief Justice of Lahore High Court.

Under the old plan, Judge Qazi Faez Isa will replace Judge Bandial as CJP in September 2023 and will hold office until October 25, 2024. He will be replaced by Judge Ijaz-ul-Ahsan for 282 days and then on October 4, 2025, the chair will return to Judge Syed Mansoor Ali Shah. Justice Shah is expected to remain in office until November 27, 2027, when he will be replaced by Judge Munib Akhtar. Judge Yahya Afridi will serve as the country’s highest judge from December 14, 2028, to January 22, 2030.
